    Stabilisers

    We have a wide range of Lead and Non-Lead stabilisers available for use in PVC applications such as:

    Our brands are:

    • Almstab ®: A range of co-reacted composite stabiliser one-packs are available in powder or pellet form and are specifically designed for rigid, flexible, and plastisol formulations. Almstab products are suited to all PVC manufacturing processes including extrusion and moulding.
    • Naftosafe ®: A heavy metal free range of stabiliser one-packs designed for the various applications in the PVC industry.
  • TBLS

    Tribasic Lead Sulphate

    Tribasic Lead Sulphate (TBLS) is produced and supplied as a fine white powder. It has a lead (Pb) content of 83.5% and may be heated to high temperatures without decomposition.Its method of manufacture ensures that there is the minimum amount of free electrolytes present in the product.Good flow properties and ease of dispersion of TBLS are of considerable advantage in the preparation of PVC compounds. Due to its excellent thermal stability, it is particularly suitable for stabilising PVC which is to be processed at high temperatures or speeds.

  • Stearate plant

    Metalic Stearates

    Lead Stearates are used in the manufacture of PVC Stabilisers. Calcium, Magnesium and Zinc Stearates are use in the processing and manufacture of polymers, paint and rubber.

    Dibasic Lead Stearate (DBLS) is produced and supplied as a fine off-white powder, with a lead (Pb) content of 51.5%. DBLS finds its main use as a high temperature lubricant in PVC compounds. It also possesses good heat stabilising properties, particularly when used in conjunction with other lead stabilisers..

    Normal Lead Stearate (NLS) is produced and supplied as a fine white powder, with a slightly greasy texture and a lead (Pb) content of 27%. NLS is used almost exclusively in the PVC industry. Whilst possessing some heat stabilising properties, it is used primarily as a lubricant in PVC compounding.

    Calcium Stearate is produced and supplied as a fine white powder. It is completely insoluble in water, low molecular weight alcohols, esters and ketones, and only slightly soluble in aromatic compounds. It is known to be completely non-toxic.

    Calcium Stearate has a large number of industrial applications:

    • As a lubricant in PVC compounds, and as a stabiliser in conjunction with other metallic soaps
    • As a lubricant in the production and processing of polyolefins
    • In the paper coating industry
    • As a mould release agent
    • As an anti-caking agent

    Zinc Stearate is produced and supplied in a number of grades – Ordinary, Laq and Wettable. It is a fine white powder that is completely insoluble in water, low molecular weight alcohols, esters and ketones, and is only slightly soluble in aromatic substances. It is known to be completely non-toxic.

    Zinc Stearate has a large number of industrial applications:

    Ordinary Grade

    • As a non-toxic stabiliser in PVC, usually in conjunction with Calcium Stearate
    • As a lubricant in the production and processing of polyolefins
    • As a mould release agent for polyester, melamine, urea and phenolic resins
    • As a flatting agent in paint

    Laq Grade

    • As a flatting agent in paint
    • As a component in the rubber vulcanising process

    Wettable Grade

    • As an anti-tack agent in rubber processing

    Magnesium Stearate is non-toxic and insoluble in water, low molecular weight alcohols, ester and ketones, but soluble in aromatic compounds. It is a fine white powder

    Magnesium Stearate has a large number of industrial applications:

    • Cosmetics as a foam regulator and to add pearlescence to shampoos
    • Release agent in various resin systems
    • As a lubricant in deep drawing emulsions
    • Hydrophobing agent in fire extinguisher powders
    • Binding and mould release agent in dry powder pressure mouldings
  • Impact modifier

    Processing Aids & Impact Modifiers

    Processing aids are polymeric additives that improve PVC gelation. Using a processing aid in PVC formulations assists in improving melt homogeneity,
    increased melt strength and allows for the melt extensibility and elasticity to improve.

    Impact Modifiers are additives that improve the impact resistance of the final product.
